school board 2 18 15Technology discussions highlighted Wednesday’s Manhattan Ogden USD 383 school board meeting.  Director of Technology, Mike Ribble shared an update on his department, as all the different facets of technology continue to evolve.
Budget reduction discussions continue to take place as well, and Ribble knows money will be much tighter.
“When we start talking about cuts, and I’ve told my staff, we [the technology department]are not teachers”.
Ribble indicated several administrative personnel individuals have approached him about iPad and laptop updates, but he said “the funds just aren’t there”.
Ribble’s other two agenda items, the state technology plan and Cisco Networking equipment purchase, were both approved unanimously.
In other business, Director of Business Services, Lew Faust shared an update on budget reduction planning.
He mentioned a possible shortfall of $319,702.  The budget committee recently worked to find options to cover this shortfall.
Faust said some of the options include the possibility of delaying the Manhattan High School East roof project.  He said he believes this will free up enough money in capital outlay to cover the deficit.
