LUBBOCK, Texas (AP)– Devaugntah Williams scored 22 points to lead Texas Tech to a 64-47 win against Kansas State on Wednesday night.

The Wildcats trailed early and trimmed their deficit to 22-20 with 6:17 remaining in the first half, but the Red Raiders scored six consecutive points and 12 of 18 to take a 34-26 lead into halftime.

Both offenses struggled to start the second half, as Kansas State (12-11, 5-5 Big 12) scored just two points over the first 5:20 and the Red Raiders needed 3:50 to make their first field goal of the half. The Wildcats, however, trimmed their deficit to one, 45-44, when Stephen Hurt hit a 3-pointer with 7:50 remaining.

The Red Raiders (12-11, 2-8 Big 12) responded with a 14-0 run over 2:46 to build a 59-44 lead with 2:28 left and ice the game. The Wildcats shot 0 of 5 through a five-plus minute scoring drought that covered part of Texas Tech’s run.

Tech closed the game on a 19-3 run over the final 5:11 and making 6 of its final 7 field goals. The Wildcats made just one of their last nine shots.

Kansas State sophomore Marcus Foster was suspended for the game due to a violation of team rules. He entered as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 14 points per game.
Thomas Gipson scored 13 points to lead the Wildcats in Foster’s absence. Freshman Malek Harris was also suspended by K-State head coach Bruce Weber. Just three other Wildcats scored more than seven points and five players didn’t score.

Toddrick Gotcher and Robert Turner scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Texas Tech, which improved to 10-0 this season when leading at halftime.

Kansas State (12-11, 5-5) will return to Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday to face Texas. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
