Arraignment delayed in attempted murder case

GavelA Manhattan man accused of first-degree attempted murder appeared in Riley County District Court for his arraignment on Monday, March 9.
Samual Dartez, 30, is facing charges in connection with a November incident in which he allegedly stabbed a woman about the face and neck. However, upon arrival in the court room, Dartez stated a request for a new lawyer on his case, delaying the scheduled arraignment.
Due to the short notice and lack of reasoning provided for the request, Judge David Stutzman decided to give Dartez and his attorney 1 to 2 days to discuss the issue, saying he wanted Dartez to “have some time to have this serious matter addressed.”
