Large community parks are the most used in the Manhattan and Riley County area according to consultants giving the briefing on a recent “statistically valid” survey. Consultants are currently giving numbers from the survey at the joint Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and Manhattan city commission work session in city hall. Indoor training facilities top the list for needed programs, and a combination of sales and property taxes is the number one option for funding parks and recreations projects according to the consultants. Consultants say more community input will be taking place, and full analysis continues on the data. This meeting precedes the regular Manhattan City Commission legislative session at 7:00 pm.
