    Suspect Arrested in Junction City Homicide Case

    Junction City Police have arrested a suspect in a Sunday homicide case.  Daniel Edwards, 34, was taken into custody shortly before 11:30 Sunday night after being located in Topeka by the Topeka Police Department. Junction City Police Detectives responded to Topeka, interviewed Edwards, arrested him, and transported him back to Junction City where he was confined at the Geary County Detention Center with no bond.

    Edwards faces charges in connection with the death of Sharon Moody, 52, of Junction City. As KMAN earlier reported, Moody was found shortly before 3:30 Sunday afternoon at her home in the one-thousand block of West Ninth in Junction City.

    The homicide investigation continues with an autopsy of Moody scheduled to take place today (Monday).

    Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Junction City Police Department at 785-762-5912 or Crimestoppers at 785-762-TIPS. Those with information may also text CRIMES, and start the tip off with tipjc. An individual may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1000.

    Updated 9:30 p.m. Sunday: Junction City Police are attempting to locate the victim’s vehicle in this homicide case. The vehicle, a 2011 Mazda CX7 (SUV), black in color, 4 door, bearing Kansas license plate 975DMU, has not been located and Police are wanting to know the whereabouts of the vehicle. In addition, Police are wanting to speak with 34 year old Daniel E. Edwards, an acquaintance of the victims, who also cannot be located. Edwards is a black male, 5’9, 145 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with any information on the location of the vehicle or Daniel E. Edwards should call Junction City Police at 785-762-5912. The name of the victim is being withheld until Monday.

    On Sunday, Junction City Police were dispatched to 1015 W. 9th in Junction City in for a welfare check. Upon arrival, officers found the body of woman in the home. The case is being worked as a homicide, and Police are seeking a person of interest but are not in a position to release that name as of yet. Further details will be released at a later time.
