On March 26, 2015 the Riley County Police Department filed a total of 7 reports related to motor vehicle theft, criminal damage to property, and/or theft. Six of these reports were filed in a 2-block radius surrounding the intersection of College Heights Road and Sunset Ave. in Manhattan. Police began these investigations after receiving a report of an attempted vehicle theft in the 2000 block of College Heights Road.
Officers responded to a report of a car alarm sounding from a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 with damage to its back window, which was estimated to be a loss of $200.00. Police filed a report for criminal damage to property listing Shane King, 20, of Manhattan as the owner of this vehicle.
Following this initial report police found 2 additional attempted motor vehicle thefts as well as 3 vehicles that had been stolen. During the investigation officers recovered 2 of these stolen vehicles, a 1999 blue Dodge Ram 2500 belonging to Diane Deaver, 59, of Manhattan which was valued at approximately $4,000.00 and a 2005 red Dodge Ram 1500 which is owned by Highland Enterprises in Wichita, Kansas (unknown value).
Two criminal damage to property reports were filed regarding the attempted theft of a 2001 Dodge 2500 belonging to Greenthumb Landscape in Wichita, Kansas. Damage was estimated to be a loss of $200.00. A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Daniel Reinkemeyer, 22, of Manhattan was also damaged while an unknown subject(s) attempted to take possession of it creating approximately $400.00 in needed repair.
RCPD determined that a theft of a zero-turn riding lawnmower in the 3000 block of Anderson Ave. was also related to these incidents. This theft report was filed through the online reporting system atwww.RileyCountyPolice.org and further information was not available at the time of this release. This lawnmower has not been recovered.
Police still consider a 2001 black Dodge Ram extended cab with a possible broken rear driver’s side window to be stolen and missing. This vehicle belongs to Shane Meenen, 21, of Manhattan and has an estimated value of $7,500.00.

A 25-year-old Manhattan man faces several drug-related charges. Riley County Police arrested Cipriano Gutierrez Thursday night on possession related charges and driving while suspended.
Gutierrez’s bond was set at $6,000. He was taken into custody shortly before 10:30 p.m.Thursday at 11th and Laramie.
