Gavel-150x150 (1)One of the suspects charged in an aggravated robbery and kidnapping incident that took place in October of last year appeared in Riley County District Court Monday afternoon for sentencing.
Kenneth Mallet faces three charges:  two kidnapping counts and one attempted aggravated robbery count.  This is in connection with an incident that took place in the 1300 block of Flint Hills Place with three other individuals who were arrested:  Rasheem Wilson, Ortegas Tune and Kaywaun Washington.
Although the victims were present in the court, they did not wish to speak.  However, Mallet chose to share a few words before receiving his sentence.
Mallet apologized to the court, state and Manhattan Area Technical College-where he went to school.  He said he had a close relationship with the people involved and they messed it up over some marijuana.
Chief Judge, Meryl Wilson chose to go with the state’s recommendation and sentenced Mallet to the following:  88 months for count one, 59 months for count two, and 32 months for count three.  This adds up to over a decade with the department of corrections.  The sentence includes other details, such as 15% “good time” for good behavior and post release of 36 months.
