royal bunny tracs event 5Over time the Royal Bunny Tracs 5K and Kids Rabbit Dash has grown to be a larger and larger event.  Starting with just a race in the beginning, the event now includes inflatable bouncy houses and obstacle courses, children’s games, concessions, vendors, and an Easter Egg Hunt.

This year’s event was held on Saturday in Northeast Community Park here in Manhattan.  The day began with the 5K run/walk registration at 7:30 a.m.  The race began at 8:30.

At 9:30 a.m., the kids fun run registration concluded, so the race could begin promptly at 10 a.m.  Three races were featured, in order to cater to different age groups:  a 200 yard dash for 0-5 year old, a 1/2 mile race and a one mile race-both geared towards children of up to 12 years old.

The Easter egg hunt included 10,000 eggs.  The eggs were scattered around roped off sections of the lawn, which were split into four different age divisions.

The kids’ activities and concessions were offered throughout the day.

Although the event was free, donations were accepted throughout the day:  all of which will go to the Manhattan Royal KIDS Camp, which aims to offer abused and neglected children a fun experience every June.
