Manhattan sales tax receipt numbers were up this last reporting period, with $917,647 collected in May, compared to $845,877 the month before. That’s also up from 2014 numbers for May of $859,419. $790,000 had been budgeted for this past month. The May numbers generally reflect April retail sales from across the community.
“Virtually every sector we monitor was up compared to a year ago,” said Bernie Hayen, Manhattan Finance Director.
