The 2015 Country Stampede has wrapped up at Tuttle Creek State Park, and it appears that the weekend was a safe one for all those who attended.  Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat was pleased with the weekend.

“Considering how the weather was looking when we came into this, I think overall things went pretty well”, said Riat.  “We had a couple of incidents we’re looking into, we had some underage drinking that we dealt with”.

Keeping the thousands of fans who attend the Stampede safe is a massive assignment, and Sheriff Riat acknowledged the many organizations that have to work in concert to accomplish that task.

“We’re really fortunate”, he said.  “All the agencies to come together to make this happen”.  He called out the Riley County Police Department, Parks & Wildlife officers, agents from the Kansas Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), the Kansas Highway Patrol, and of course his own department.  “A lot of agencies come together to try to make it safe for all the folks that like to come out here” to Stampede.

He also gave credit to the hosts of the event.  “Stampede is always good to work with”, he said.
