    Suspect in high speed chase identified

    Just after 9 a.m. Thursday, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call, the victim reporting that they believed their car had been shot at by an individual in the area of Carnahan Creek Rd. The suspect in the matter was reported to be driving a Red Honda Civic car.

    Pottawatomie County Dispatch broadcast an attempt to locate for the suspect and suspect vehicle. Riley County Police Officers did locate a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle a short time later in Riley County on Tuttle Creek Blvd. The suspect vehicle fled, coming back into Pottawatomie County. The vehicle was pursued, and while being pursued was lost during the chase in the rural Olsburg area because of high rates of speed and unsafe driving conditions.

    Numerous law enforcement Officers from Pottawatomie County, Riley County, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Highway Patrol Aircraft, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Onaga Police Department, and Marshall County Sheriff’s Office converged on the area. The suspect vehicle was located later in the morning. Law Enforcement from these agencies with the assistance of aircraft approached the area where the vehicle was located and were able to find the suspect in a residence.

    The suspect, 19-year old Travis Doughty of Leavenworth was taken into custody for Aggravated Assault, Fleeing to Elude, Reckless Driving Criminal Discharge of a Firearm, Criminal Damage to property. Bond has not been set at this time.
