USD 383 LogoDuring Wednesday’s monthly meeting, Manhattan/Ogden board members covered board elections, appointments, budget planning for the 2015-16 school year and Independence Day reminders.

Each July, the board elects a President and Vice President for a year-long term serving the school board. Board member Marcia Rozell was elected President with a unanimous 7 to 0 vote and members welcomed board member Aaron Estabrook to serve as Vice President. The board also welcomed new Assistant Superintendent Eric Reid to his first meeting with USD 383. Board member Dave Colburn announced annual duty appointments to include Clerk and Deputy Clerk, Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer and more.

During his spoken report, Superintendent Bob Shannon told board members to have a fun and safe Independence Day. However, he reminded the public although school grounds and fields may be an optimal place to ignite fireworks, it is prohibited.

Next regular meeting items set for the 15th of this month include budget development, a Head Start federal report, a food service annual report and bids for warehouse paper and the Lee Elementary storm drainage system.
