
Updated 11 a.m. Tuesday:
The Riley County Police Department issued a press release late Tuesday morning regarding the case of missing Manhattan man…Robert Griffith.
The department says police have not yet positively identified the body of a deceased male found inside a black Cadillac Escalade belonging to Griffith.
An autopsy has been ordered and detectives will conduct a routine follow-up investigation.
Officials have not yet determined a cause of death… but police do not suspect the public to be in any danger.
Griffith’s family posted to a public Facebook page late Monday night that preliminary identification of the body indicated that it was likely to be the former GTM CFO…based on the identification of clothing and a wedding ring.
RCPD cite the status of this case as ongoing.

UPDATED 5:45 a.m.: The Family of Robert Griffith indicated later Monday on a Facebook page set up especially for their missing family member that they had been informed that the person in the car had been preliminarily identified as Bob. The post goes on to say he had on the same clothes, wedding ring, and sandals Griffith had on when he went missing. An autopsy is expected to take a few days and a Memorial Service will be planned after that.
KMAN received reports earlier Monday evening of Topeka Police discovering a man’s body found in a black Cadillac Escalade in a Dillon’s Parking Lot in the 800 block of Northwest 25th Street. Riley County Police had not yet been contacted and Griffith’s family had not been notified at that time.
KMAN first got word of Griffith being reported missing from “Kansas Missing and Unsolved,” with information that he was last seen at two p.m. July 20th at his home. He was last seen driving the 2007 Cadillac Escalade and a description and pictures were provided. Griffith was a former CFO at GTM.
An official news release is expected later Tuesday morning.

Riley County Police confirmed late Monday night that a vehicle found in Topeka with a man’s body in it was the vehicle they were looking for, in connection with the dissappearance a week ago of Robert Griffith, 54, of Manhattan. The black Cadillac Escalade was found in a Dillon’s Parking Lot in the 800 block of Northwest 25th Street in Topeka. However, Public Information Officer Matthew Droge indicated the identity of the body has not been positively confirmed, and Topeka Police are continuing their investigation and attempts to identify the body.

Griffith’s family is indicating on a Facebook page set up especially for Robert Griffith that it is confirmed the vehicle found is Griffith’s vehicle. According to the post, the police are investigating all aspects of the scene and the family is currently together and would like privacy and prayers.
