A woman left a traffic stop safely after being pulled over by someone believed to be a police impersonator.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office is reporting a possible male suspect impersonating a police officer. A female victim reported that at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday (August 4th) she was driving East on Highway 24 when a black 4 door car that looked to have flashing lights on top of the car pulled in behind her. The victim believing it was law enforcement stopped.
The driver of the black car exited the vehicle and approached the victim. The suspect had the victim step out of her car and then started searching part of her car. The victim was allowed to leave the stop unharmed.
The victim noted that the 4 door black car had no markings, believed the emergency lights were on top of the car, and then described the suspect as being 5’6 to 6 foot tall, 35 to 40 years old, white male , clean shaven and wearing a black baseball cap, dress pants, a blue polo shirt with a clip on name tag and tinted sunglasses.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received a report Monday that a 2001 silver Dodge ram pickup stolen from the 500 block of Armor St. in Westmoreland . The pickup was believed to have been taken sometime between midnight and 6:00 a.m.The keys were believed to have been left in the pickup. The pickup has decals located in the back window that read “Sky-Copers, Inc.”
