Two motions were presented at a motions hearing Wednesday morning in Riley County District Court for a  Manhattan man facing charges which include involuntary manslaughter while DUI. The State has submitted a motion to admit statements by the defendant Ryan Routson. The Defense is requesting suppression of KBI lab results from Routson’s blood test.
Evidence was presented regarding the defendant’s statements and an argument was made regarding the blood test. Judge David Stutzman took the matters under advisement and will prepare an order at an unspecified date.
Routson also faces charges of aggravated battery while DUI along with unlawful possession of methamphetamine. The case stems from a May 2014 case in which Routson allegedly failed to observe a stop stign at the intersection of Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Tuttle Terrace, with his vehicle then striking a vehicle driven by a woman who was pregnant. The unidentified woman was 22 weeks pregnant at the time and gave birth prematurely to a stillborn child later that day.

A Westmoreland man faces a November 13th preliminary hearing on attempted second degree murder and aggravated battery charges. A status hearing was held Tuesday in Pottawatomie County Court for Travis Conder, 28, who was arrested last month after a shooting in Westmoreland.

Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 100 block of South Fourth Street in Westmoreland early on a Sunday morning and found two individuals suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Conder was taken into custody outside the residence without incident. His bond was set at $100,000.
