HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) A Kansas inmate was flown by helicopter to a Wichita hospital for treatment of head injuries after being beaten by two other inmates.
Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson says 30-year-old Darrell Beachy was beaten in his pod at the Reno County Correctional Facility on Saturday night by inmates Antoine Alexander and William Alexander.
Henderson says aggravated battery charges were added to the brothers’ original charges.
The Hutchinson News reports Beachy is being held on numerous charges of theft, burglary, forgery and interference with law enforcement. Antoine Alexander is being held on failure to appear charges from Hutchinson and South Hutchinson, while William Alexander was in custody for a failure to appear charge out of Salina.
Henderson says he doesn’t know what caused the altercation.
