One person was taken to the hospital following an early morning fire in Manhattan. At 2:28 a.m. the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 926 Connecticut for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a two-story residential with a light haze of smoke in the structure. Seven occupants were home at the time of the fire and were able to extinguish the fire prior to the fire departments arrival. A total of 18 firefighters responded on 8 fire apparatus.
The single family residence received an estimated loss of $50 to the contents with no loss to the structure. One occupant of the residence was transported by the Riley County Emergency Medical Service to Via Christi Hospital with inhalation burns. The owners are listed as David and Barbara Gourlay. The fire cause is under investigation at this time.
