RCPD Report 9/8/15

RCPD 6-15
Riley County Police released more information Tuesday regarding an arrest KMAN first told you about this past weekend.
RCPD responded to a report of a domestic incident which occurred in the 200 block of North Broadway in Riley, at about 11:14 Friday night. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 17-year-old female who alleged that she had been struck by a male who was known to her. The victim was treated on scene by emergency crews before being transported by her family to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
The suspect was identified as Cody Jones, 20, of Leonardville, however he had left the area prior to officers arrival. Saturday at approximately 4:50 PM, Jones was located in the 7400 Block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard and placed under arrest. Offenses were listed as Aggravated Battery and Criminal Damage to Property. Jones’ bond was set at $23,000.

A Topeka man was taken into custody by Riley County Police Friday on a failure to appear warrant.  Phillip Schaffer, 45, was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department at about noon on the warrant,  with the original offense of Theft. Schaffer’s bond was set at $12,000.

Riley County Police arrested Milly Vazquez, 21, of Manhattan in the 2300 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard Friday at approximately 4:01 PM. Tuesday’s RCPD Activity report indicates Vazquez was arrested on a warrant for Probation Violation through Riley County District Court. Vazquez’s bond was set at $5,000.

Tuesday’s Riley County Police activity report indicates an aggravated sexual battery case was reported Friday at approximately 12:30 PM. The report was taken of a past Aggravated Sexual Battery that allegedly occurred in the central portion of Manhattan.

A 20-year-old female victim reported an alleged incident that had occurred involving a suspect who was known to her. The case continues to be under investigation.

The Riley County Police Department along with the Kansas Highway Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint this coming Saturday (Sept. 12). The checkpoint is designed to identify impaired drivers and remove them from the roadway. Motorists who show signs of alcohol and/or drug consumption will be evaluated and appropriate enforcement action will be taken.

The Kansas Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Project provides the funding for the Check Lane.
