A Manhattan man who was pursued on foot by Riley County police officers into City Park and apprehended by the use of TASER following a shooting in Aggieville during the early morning hours of May 3 pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted first degree murder Tuesday morning in Riley County District Court.

Mark Self, Jr., 31, allegedly shot 26-year-old Kevin Green of Manhattan at 1:20 a.m. in the 600 block of North 12th Street.  A second victim, 19-year-old Jeremy Caudill of Fort Riley, sustained minor injury as a result of shrapnel from gunfire and did not require medical attention.

Green was released from medical care hours after the incident.

Jury selection will be on Jan. 28 and pre-trial motions are expected to be filed to Judge David Stutzman by Nov. 2.

So far, the trial is expected to last a week and will begin Feb. 1.
