A Manhattan business owner is closing shop.
Frank Beer, owner of the former RadioShack-turned-Gizmoe’s on 614 Fort Riley Blvd., will begin its going out of business sale effective immediately.
In a press release hand-delivered to KMAN, Beer said that after the effects of RadioShack’s corporate bankruptcy, competition from the internet and negative product cycles in the consumer electronics industry, he’s been forced to make the difficult decision to discount inventory and close as soon as its sold.
Beer said inventory will be marked up to 80-percent or more off and that discounts are limited to stock on hand.
“It’s been a pleasure to serve the people of the Manhattan area for the past 14 and a half years,” he said in the release. “And our thanks to the Raddenburg and Brecheisen families for their contributions over the 43 years of customer service we have provided our market.
“My wife Jan and I intend on remaining in the community that we have come to call home.”
