Wesley Iwundu scored a game-high 17 points and Justin Edwards added 13 as Kansas State began the 2015-16 Men’s Basketball season with an 80-42 exhibition victory over Division II Emporia State Friday night at Bramlage Coliseum.

The Wildcats were never really challenged in this game as they raced out to a 20-8 lead in the first 12 minutes and took control of things on the way to a 43-17 advantage at halftime.

K-State continued the onslaught of points to start the second half by outscoring the Hornets 7-2 in just under 90 seconds as they never looked back.

For the game, four Wildcats were in double figures. Joining Iwundu and Edwards were veteran Stephen Hurt with 11 points and newcomer Austin Budke with 10. Other newcomers with notable point totals included Dean Wade and Barry Brown with six points apiece, Kamau Stokes with five points and Carlbe Ervin II with four.

Kansas State will play its second and final exhibition game against Fort Hays State on November 6 at Bramlage Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
