Date Set in Geary County Child Abuse Case

0
By KMAN Staff on October 16, 2015 Fort Riley, Geary County, Local News, Top Story
Echon-5-15
A man facing child abuse charges in Geary County has waived a preliminary hearing. Cyjay Echon waived the hearing Thursday and his next court date is set for November 13th in the case.
However, Echon has also been charged now with violation of a no contact order and stalking and that case was continued for status to October 27th. His bond motion was denied. The latest charges involve a no contact order with the baby in the child abuse case and mother.
As KMAN reported in May, the Fort Riley soldier was taken into custody in Kansas City, Missouri in the child abuse case after Junction City Police were contacted by Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas city in reference to a three month old infant who had been transferred from the Geary Community Hospital. The child reportedly had sevre head injuries and was on a ventilator at Children’s Mercy at the time of Echon’s arrest.
