    RCPD-Cruisers2-300x144Officers with the Riley County Police Department initiated an investigation into the offenses of aggravated sexual battery and aggravated indecent liberties with a child involving one female victim who is 18-years-old. These crimes occurred on multiple occasions between the summer of 2011 and last year in the city limits of Manhattan. The suspect is known to the victim and is a middle-aged adult. Due to nature of these crimes no further information was released.


    Denzel Leonard, 22, of Manhattan, was arrested Thursday at approximately 11 a.m. while in the 2000 block of Tecumseh Road. Leonard was arrested for the offenses of violation of the Kansas Offender Registration Act, possession of a hallucinogenic drug and use or possession of with intent to use drug paraphernalia. He was given a bond of $40,000 and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail.


    A report for aggravated battery and battery was filed in the 600 block of N. 11th Street in Manhattan on Friday morning at approximately 2:30 a.m. Police responded to the location for a report of a fight that had occurred and left a victim, Alexander Schulze, 22, of Manhattan, injured and in need of medical assistance. Officers found that Schulze had sustained a significant injury to his ankle during a physical altercation with an unknown suspect. This injury occurred when Schulze was kicked causing a compound break. He was ultimately transported to Via Christi Hospital for treatment. Police ask anyone with information on this crime to contact them directly or utilize the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers service. Using crime stoppers allows tipsters to remain anonymous and potentially qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
