A consultant for a Hollywood feature film stopped by the KMAN studio Tuesday morning.

Francis Gary Powers, Jr., will speak at the K-State Alumni Center at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Powers is the son of Francis Gary Powers, Sr., who was a U-2 surveillance plane pilot during the Cold War.

Powers was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960 and his story is featured in “Bridge of Spies,” which is directed by Steven Speilberg and led by Tom Hanks. It opened in theaters last Friday.

KMAN’s Cathy Dawes spoke with Powers’ son, who is the founder and chairman of The Cold War Museum in Midlothian, Va.
