Steering committee formation presented to city commissioners

    Street1

City of Manhattan Administration hit the ground running on Tuesday night, presenting their desire to form a steering committee to City Commissioners, during a work session.

Director of Public Works, Robert Ott spoke to commissioners in what was largely a refresher course in issues of street maintenance, previously presented to the city commission in April.

City Administration is seeking the assembly of a steering committee that will help to develop the wording of a potential 2016 ballot measure regarding a 0.2% sales tax increase, for the funding of additional pavement management and street maintenance throughout the city.

Ott says the committee will be made up of Manhattan residents and professionals, interested in serving and representing diverse groups with varying areas of expertise and a general interest in the project itself.

If all goes to plan, the steering committee would provide their findings to the City Commission no later than March of 2016.

A timeline for establishing the committee would have its members finalized sometime next month…with official appointments being made by City Commissioners, on December 1st.
