A couple of Kansas Department of Corrections inmates serving time on Riley County convictions are up for public comment sessions in January.
Danny Lee Sprecker, 66, was sentenced in 1973 for second degree murder and in 1969 for rape. He’s currently being held at El Dorado.
Anthony Juan Murphy, 50, has been in prison on several charges, with the most recent a 2013 case involving aggravated sexual battery and other sexual related counts. Prior to that he had convictions for criminal threat and driving under the influence in Riley County and theft, burglary, and drug-related charges in Geary County. Murphy most recently has been at the Lansing facility.
January public comment sessions are on the 13th at the Derby Police and Courts facility, the 22nd at Topeka’s Municipal Court House, and the 27th at Kansas City’s City Hall. Letters can be sent to the Kansas Department of Corrections. Parole hearings will be in February, with the earliest possible release date of March 2016.
