A Manhattan man found guilty by jury of attempted first degree murder was granted a delay in his sentencing Tuesday morning in the Riley County District Courthouse.
Samuel Dartez, who was scheduled to be sentenced for the stabbing of a 27-year-old woman multiple times on Nov. 13, 2014, near the intersection of Juliette and Yuma streets, was granted the delay by Judge David Stutzman after Dartez’s defense attorney said he is still awaiting results from a mental evaluation of Dartez.
Dartez, 31, wasn’t in court Tuesday because he refused to be taken from his cell to be transported to the courthouse.
Sentencing has been rescheduled for Jan. 29 at 9 a.m.
