A verbal altercation which turned physical resulted in a police response in the are of Mission Circle in Manhattan on January 26, 2016 at approximately 6:00 PM.

Officers were told that this altercation involved a subject brandishing a firearm prior to leaving the scene with another individual in a green pontiac.

Police responding to the scene observed this green pontiac and attempted to perform a traffic stop at which time a short vehicle pursuit occurred.

This pursuit began near the intersection of Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Allen Road and continued south through the residential section east of Tuttle Creek Blvd.

The suspect vehicle made its way to the intersection of Casement Road and Tuttle Creek Blvd. and turned south onto Tuttle Creek Blvd. Officers at the intersection of Holiday Drive and Tuttle Creek Blvd. were able to deploy “stop sticks” in order to slow the vehicle to a safe stop.

Speeds were noted at being approximately 10-15 MPH over the posted speed limits.

After the vehicle came to a complete stop officers were able to initiate a “felony traffic stop” as a safety measure.

Out of an abundance of caution the intersection of Tuttle Creek Blvd. and Bluemont Ave. was closed to traffic for a short time.

The occupants of the vehicle were compliant and ultimately taken into custody.

Police arrested Shawn Sime, 36, of St. George, Kansas for the offense of criminal damage to property which gave him a bond of $3,000.00. Sime was no longer confined at the time of this report.

Also arrested was Johnathan Bruce, 21, of St. George, Kansas for the offenses of flee or attempt to elude law enforcement, reckless driving, criminal damage to property, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

Bruce received a bond of $7,000.00 and was no longer confined at the time of this report. Due to the domestic nature of the original call for service no further information was released.
