Wamego City Commission taking part in local events

The Wamego City Commission will be participating in several local events. At Tuesday’s meeting, City Manager Merl Page reminded the Commission they have participated in the Diamonds and Denim Fundraiser for several years by both sponsoring and donating. The Committee requested the same participation as last year, which was a $1,000 donation and several pool passes. Diamonds and Denim is a Wamego Hospital Foundation event, and all the proceeds go to support equipment purchases for the Hospital.

In addition, the Commission agreed to repeat their participation in the Columbian Theatre’s Summer Theatre Academy in the amount of $2,400. Page said that the Summer Theatre had been part of the Summer Recreation Program, but found partnering with the Columbian Theatre a benefit. Both contributions were approved by a vote of 5 to 0.
