    RCPDReportLauren Hess, 25, of Manhattan was arrested while in the 600 block of Poyntz Ave. on February 17, 2016 at approximately 1:00 PM. This arrest came after police received reports of a vehicle that was not operating safely and had been involved in a collision with a curb. This tip led to the arrest which included the offenses of driving while under the influence, endangering a child, and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. RCPD confirmed that an infant child was inside the vehicle at the time of this incident. Hess was given a bond of $2,500.00 and at the time of this report was no longer confined at the Riley County Jail.


     

    Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Matthew Muse, 37, of Manhattan while at 100 Courthouse Plaza on February 17, 2016 at approximately 2:50 PM. Muse was arrested on a warrant for probation violation which originated in Junction City, Kansas. He was given “no bond” as a result of this offense and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail.


     

    RCPD filed a report for and is currently investigating a report of burglary in the 2400 block of Charolais Lane. Police were called when damage was found to an unoccupied home totaling approximately $2,000.00 worth of needed repair. The victim in this case is listed as Jeanie Nordstrom, 58, of Parker, Colorado and damage included spray painted walls as well as damage that would be consistent with attempting to ignite a bottle of lighter fluid. Officers are also investigating this incident as an attempted arson.     Police arrested Jessica Cathcart, 32, of Ogden, Kansas on the offenses of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while suspended. She was given a bond of $5,000.00 and at the time of this report was no longer confined at the Riley County Jail. Officers made this arrest following a traffic violation near the intersection of Skyway and Scenic Drives on February 17, 2016 at approximately 9:40 PM.


     

    A report for aggravated assault was filed in the city limits of Manhattan after a domestic altercation escalated on February 17, 2016 at approximately 8:00 AM. Officers who responded to the crime are investigating the incident which involved a 45-year-old female victim and a 45-year-old male suspect. Police were told that the suspect held a knife to the victim’s throat and made threats. There were no injuries listed on the report and this investigation remains ongoing.
