A Silver Lake man was sentenced Thursday to eight months with the Department of Corrections but granted immediate probation for 18 months in connection with an aggravated battery while DUI case from October of 2014. Cameron Renfro was ordered to pay costs and restitution and to serve 30 days of house arrest/jail.
Pottawatomie County Attorney Sherri Schuck indicates the victim and his family were supportive of the sentencing.
Renfro entered a plea of guilty to the charge last month in Pottawatomie County Court. As KMAN reported at the time, Renfro and Jeffrey Fisher of Wamego were life-flighted following the accident on Highway 24 east of Wamego. Renfro and Fisher were drivers in the head-on collision and were trapped, having to be extricated from the two vehicles. The highway was closed several hours the early morning of the October fifth 2014 accident. Renfro lost an arm and Fisher ended up in a wheelchair since the accident.
