A teen suspect in an attempted murder case in Pottawatomie County entered pleas of no contest Thursday to attempted second degree murder, discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Dakota Fair’s charges involve the shooting of Tyrel Britton, 23, in late December on Mt. Zion Road in rural St. George.
Fair’s sentencing is set for May 19th. Britton was flown to Topeka for medical treatment following the shooting but survived his injuries. Law enforcement officials at the time indicated Fair was believed to have fired a gun from the car he was driving at Britton’s pickup. A female passenger in the suspect vehicle was also held originally on a criminal solicitation charge. Melissa UmScheid is set for an April 21st arraignment.
