An out of control prescribed burn saw fire crews from Randolph, Riley County, and Leonardville responding to the area of Barton Road on Wednesday.
Crews battled the blaze from noon until nearly 11 p.m.
Riley County Fire Chief, Pat Collins says the total number of acres burned is still to be determined.
According to Collins, April has seen eight days of no burning in the region.
Despite burn bans, over 16,000 acres of land have been burned as a result of controlled burning that’s gotten out of hand.
