    UPDATE: 4:06 p.m.

The boy reported missing earlier was found safe by a Junction City Police officer about a quarter mile from his home.

A Command Post had been set up and numerous volunteers along with law enforcement resources from the area to include the Junction City Police Department, Geary County Sheriff’s Office, Geary County Emergency Management, Kansas Wildlife & Parks, Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Rescue Dog Association, Fort Riley DA Police, Geary County Volunteer Fire Department, Junction City Fire Department, and a representative of the Missing & Exploited Children were en route to assist. The JCPD would thank all those involved in the search for their assistance.

The Junction City Police Department has issued an alert for a missing autistic child.

According to Chief of Police, Tim Brown, 6-year-old Xavier Napolitano walked away from his home at 948 Grant Avenue at 6:30 Sunday morning.

Xavier is 4′ tall and weighs 55 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing white sweatpants when he left home this morning. He is non-verbal.

The Junction City Police Department is asking for the public to call 911 or 785-762-5912 if you spot Xavier or if you have any information regarding his disappearance.
