    Prescription Drug Arrests

    RCPDInvestigationDetectives with the Riley County Police Department Special Investigations Unit made two arrests related to the distribution of illegal prescription drugs on June 3rd at approximately 7:40 PM. These arrests occurred in the 1300 block of Laramie Street in Manhattan. Seized during this investigation were approximately 1,000 Xanax pills, marijuana and other items of drug paraphernalia.

    Jared Thompson, 23, of 1321 West Laramie Street in Manhattan was arrested for the offenses of possession of Xanax with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, unlawful use of a telecommunication device, possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor), possession of drug paraphernalia (felony) and criminal use of a weapon. He was given a bond of $50,000.00 and remained confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

    Craig West, 22, of 1321 West Laramie Street in Manhattan was arrested for the offenses of possession of Xanax with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia (misdemeanor) and unlawful use of a telecommunication device. He was given a bond of $20,000.00 and was no longer confined at the time of this report.

    Investigations into the illegal distribution of narcotics in Riley County are ongoing and police ask that anyone with information or tips on area drug related crime contact the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.
