    A Topeka man was taken into custody Tuesday Morning on failure to appear charges.

    Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Rey Martinez, 39. Martinez was at the Riley County Police Department at the time of this arrest on the offense of failure to appear (x2) which was listed on two warrants with original offenses of driving while cancelled, suspended, or revoked. He was given “no bond” and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail.


    Law enforcement in Riley County filed a report for the offense of sexual battery in Manhattan on Tuesday for an incident that occurred on May 31. Police were alerted to a situation that involved a 75-year-old male victim who was touched inappropriately by a 71-year-old male suspect. Detectives continue to investigate the matter. No arrests had been made.


    A Manhattan man was taken into custody by the RCPD for probation violation on Tuesday night.

    RCPD arrested Russell Allen Jr., 34, while near the intersection of N. 6th Street and Kearney Street. Allen was arrested on the offense of probation violation which was listed on a warrant with “no bond.” This warrant originated in Junction City and was confined at the Riley County Jail.


    Police filed a report for eavesdropping and lewd and lascivious behavior after being alerted to an incident that involved a male of unknown age wearing an orange shirt who stood approximately 5 feet 8 inches with a medium complexion and short dark hair.

    Officers on scene near Todd Road were told that this male was observed touching himself inappropriately while looking through a window of a 20-year-old female victim. Riley County Crime Stoppers are looking for any information on this crime and could qualify for $1,000 reward.


    RCPD took a report for rape and have begun to investigate this crime which occurred in the Tuttle Creek State Park camping grounds.

    Officers were told that a 20-year-old female victim was approached by a unknown white male suspect of unknown age on Tuesday night. Police were then told that she was forced to engage in unwanted sexual intercourse with him. This male suspect was reported as being a heavier set male with medium length brown hair.

    Due to the nature of this crime no further information was available to be released. RCPD encourages the camping ground community to contact law enforcement to report suspicious activity.
