A shooting was reported in Junction City early Thursday morning, with the victim reportedly in stable condition in a Topeka Hospital and another man facing attempted murder charges.
A news release from JCPD Lt. Jeff Childs indicates that at approximately 1:40 a.m., members of the Junction City Police Department Patrol Division were dispatched to the 200 block of  East 12th Street, in reference to a possible disturbance. Upon their arrival it was determined the disturbance had taken place in an apartment where shots had been fired.
A short time later a second call was received advising there was a subject in the 200 block of East 14th St. who had been shot. Upon making contact with the victim, an officer learned the subject was involved in the earlier disturbance on 12th Street.
The victim, identified as a 25-year-old Ft. Riley solider, was flown by Life Star, to Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center, in Topeka. It was learned the victim was in stable condition awaiting surgery for his injuries.
Upon conducting an investigation in reference to the shooting a suspect was identified and arrested.  Connell A. Davis, 32, of Junction City was booked into the Geary County Detention Center on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery, and Aggravated Burglary. Davis was held on a no bond status pending his first appearance in the Geary County District Court.
