    RCPD BadgeThe Riley County Police Department had its third and fourth of a series of eight DUI Saturation Patrols on the evenings of Friday July 29, 2016 and Saturday July 30, 2016. On Friday evening Officers working the Saturation Patrol stopped eighteen motorists.  Of these, five were evaluated for DUI resulting in two drivers being arrested for DUI.  An additional subject was arrested for Driving While Suspended. On Saturday evening Officers working the Saturation Patrol stopped twenty-two motorists.  Of these, six were evaluated for DUI resulting in two being arrested for DUI. An additional subject was issued a citation for possession of Marijuana.


    Police arrested Jared Gihring, 21, of Newton, Kansas on Saturday July 30, 2016 at approximately 9:50 AM while at the Riley County Police Department. Gihring was arrested on a warrant with the offenses of rape and aggravated criminal sodomy. He was given a bond of $25,000 and at the time of this report he was not confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest stems from an incident occurring in October 2015.


    A report for the offense of burglary was filed in the 300 block of Appaloosa Trail in Ogden, Kansas on Friday July 29, 2016 at approximately 10:35 AM for an offense that likely occurred the day prior. Officers listed Thomas Dulohery, 44, of Ogden as the victim after several items were removed from his residence. These items included firearms and electronics totaling approximately $6,800. Currently suspect(s) are unknown and police ask that anyone with information on this crime contact the Riley County Police Department or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.


    Police are investigating a burglary and criminal damage to property which occurred at 100 Manhattan Town Center. Riddles Jewelry became the victim of this crime when an unknown suspect(s) broke a glass window to the business and removed numerous gold necklaces valued in total at approximately $14,000. A glass display case was also damaged during this crime. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers or RCPD directly.


    The Riley County Police Department filed a report for aggravated burglary, criminal trespass and theft of property or services in the 500 block of Oakdale Drive in Manhattan on Sunday July 31, 2016 at approximately 2:15 PM. Officers listed Chantiel Frye, 24, of Manhattan as one of the victims in this report after a male, who was later arrested, was found to be inside her vehicle. The suspect fled as police arrived. RCPD received phone calls from community members in the area that alerted them to the location of this male. One caller and also listed as a victim in this report was John Pratt, 27, of Manhattan who told officers that this suspect had entered his home in the 400 block of Edgerton Ave. and also attempted to remove a bicycle from his garage. Officers found Robert Weixelman, 35, of Manhattan in the 2100 block of Poyntz Ave. and placed him under arrested for the aforementioned crimes. He was given a bond of $20,000 and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail.
