    Police arrested Shannon Meireis, 34, of Topeka, Kansas on August 12, 2016 at approximately 9:05 PM while in the 400 block of S. 4th Street in Manhattan. Meireis was arrested on the offense of possession of opiates, opium, or narcotic drugs and use of possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. She was given a bond of $6,000.00 and at the time of this report was not confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest stemmed from a traffic infraction which constituted a traffic stop.

    RCPD is investigating a report of aggravated battery and battery which occurred at 1430 Cambridge Place in Manhattan on August 12, 2016 at approximately 9:50 PM. Police found that Shawn Cason, 21, of Fort Riley, Kansas received non-life threatening injury after an altercation with a 26-year-old male suspect which involved a knife. The victim and suspect in this investigation are known to each other. No arrests had been made at the time of this report, however, officers continue to investigate the matter.

    Charles Cramer, 23, of Manhattan was arrested on August 13, 2016 at approximately 11:45 PM while in the 800 block of Poyntz Ave. Cramer was arrested on the offenses of distribute substance in 65-4105h within 1,000 feet of a school (marijuana), possession of paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, plant, or cultivate a controlled substance, use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia into the human body, and possession of a hallucinogenic drug. He was given a bond of $12,000.00 and at the time of this report was not confined at the Riley County Jail. This arrest was a result of an investigation that involved a traffic stop for a traffic violation.

    The Riley County Police Department arrested Clayton Gieber, 31, of Manhattan while near the intersection of 10th Street and Moro Street on August 14, 2016 at approximately 1:00 AM. Gieber was arrested on the offenses of possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance and given a bond of $6,000.00. He was not confined at the Riley County Jail at the time of this report.

    Officers with the Riley County Police Department are investigating a report of rape in the city limits of Manhattan which was reported on August 14, 2016 at approximately 11:20 AM for an incident that occurred overnight prior. Police listed a 43-year-old female victim and a 45-year-old male suspect (known to the victim). RCPD continues to investigate the matter and due to the nature of this crime no further information has been released.
