K-State basketball picked 9th in Big 12 Preseason Poll

(Big 12 Sports) – Despite all the talented newcomers and veteran leaders returning for K-State basketball this season. The Big 12 coaches don’t believe in the Wildcats. K-State has been picked to finish 9th in the Big 12 this season, according to the 2016-17 Big 12 preseason poll.

For the fifth consecutive year, Kansas is the preseason choice to win the Big 12 men’s basketball regular season championship. The Jayhawks look to win their 13th straight Big 12 regular season title. They received nine first place votes.

West Virginia, which fell to KU in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship title game a year ago, was picked second. Texas, entering its second campaign under head coach Shaka Smart, is picked third, Followed by Iowa State at No. 4. The Cyclones received the 10th first place vote.

Baylor and Oklahoma were next at fifth and sixth. Oklahoma State and Texas Tech were tied for seventh, followed by Kansas State and TCU rounding out the preseason rankings.
