    Updated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday
(News release from Riley County Police Department):

On February 14, 2017, Riley County Dispatch received an assist other jurisdiction request in regards to a chase that originated with the Rossville (Kansas) Police Department. The chase began in Shawnee County, continued through Pottawatomie County, and eventually entered Riley County.

Once the vehicle, a black 2009 Lexus entered Manhattan, it ran the stop light at E. Poyntz Ave. and Tuttle Creek Blvd., colliding with a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Kelly Alexander, 42, of Clay Center Kansas. The Lexus did not stop, continuing westbound onto Ft. Riley Blvd. at high rates of speed.

The Lexus, while traveling westbound on Fort Riley Blvd., crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by David Hober, 35, of Manhattan, Kansas. Hober was transported by EMS to Via Christi for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Lexus, later identified as Robert McGinley, 26, of Lees Summit, Missouri, also sustained injuries and was transported by EMS to Via Christi for treatment.

Officers with Rossville Police Department conducted a search of the Lexus, and located over 2 pounds of methamphetamine and 1 pound of marijuana. Officers also located multiple items of drug paraphernalia, approximately $30,000.00 in cash, and two firearms.

After being released from Via Christi, McGinley was arrested for aggravated battery, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a felon, flee and elude, driving while suspended, DUI, and felony possession of drug paraphernalia. McGinley remains confined at the Riley County Jail on no bond at the time of this press release.

Rossville Police Department requested the Riley County Police Department to take over the criminal investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

We thank the Rossville Police Department, Silver Lake Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, Riley County EMS, Manhattan Fire Department, and the citizens who stayed away from Fort Riley Blvd. to allow emergency services to work for their help and cooperation during this incident.

    (Earlier report)
A law enforcement chase that apparently originated in Rossville and ended in Manhattan led to two injuries, one arrest, and blockage of Fort Riley Boulevard for at least an hour Tuesday afternoon. 26 year old Robert McGinley of Lees Summit Missouri and 35 year old David Hober of Manhattan were both taken to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan following the accident, reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. at South Sixth Street and Fort Riley Boulevard.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, McGinley was westbound on K-18  fleeing from Rossville Police in a 2009 Lexus when the vehicle went left of center and traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes, colliding with a 2002 Chevrolet passenger car driven by Hober.
The Riley County Police arrest report early Wednesday morning indicates McGinley faces eight possible charges, including aggravated battery, fleeing and eluding, second conviction DUI, and several drug-related charges. No bond is listed on the report.
KMAN has now learned from Rossville Police the call involving a dangerous driver on the highway came in about three p.m., with the three county chase at times exceeding 120 miles per hour. Investigation has revealed McGinley was connected to an armed robbery out of the Kansas City area and was transporting felony level narcotics, guns, ammunition and a large amount of cash. Evidence from the scene or thrown from the vehicle includes two loaded handguns, extra ammunition, loaded rifle magazines, approximately 1,1 pounds of marijuana, about 2.2 pounds of methamphetamine, and 30-thousand dollars in U-S Currency.
Riley County Police reported traffic issues with Fort Riley Boulevard at the time of the accident, with traffic being diverted at Juliette and Fourth Street, and motorists advised to avoid the area for about an hour.
