RCPD activity report 2-27-17

A 24 year-old from Manhattan was arrested by Riley County Police this past weekend.  Friday evening,  Yiping Zhu, 24, reported she had been battered at her residence in the 1600 block of Hillcrest by an acquaintance.  Upon investigation,  Hongyu Shi, 24, was arrested for aggravated battery. Shi is currently confined on $20,000 bond.

A 46 year-old woman reported her vehicle missing Friday morning. Barbara Flores told police that her Gray 1998 Dodge Ram panel van valued at $2,500 dollars was stolen from the 1300 block of Temple Lane. Officers from Missouri located the vehicle in Oak Grove, Missouri and arrested 38 year-old Andrew Jones of Manhattan, for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. Jones is currently in custody in Missouri.

Also Friday evening After Eackles, 55, reported his white 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 van was stolen from the 400 block of Houston Street. The van has the business name Manhattan Mobile Wash on the side of the vehicle. Loss was estimated at $5000.

Several  individuals reported vehicle window damage over the weekend. Approximately 22 victims reported damage on their vehicle windows in the southwest portion of Manhattan. A BB style type of weapon is suspected to have been used in the commission of the crimes.
