Construction to begin on east MHK bike path

On Monday, April 10, construction work will begin on a pedestrian and bicycle path project on Knox Lane between Casement Road and Northeast Park Street in Manhattan. Project work includes construction of sidewalk ramps at the Casement Road intersection, new sidewalk and some new driveway construction, and curb and gutter work on south side of Knox Lane. Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional weekend work. The project was intended to start on Monday, April 3, however due to next week’s wet weather, the project start date has been rescheduled for Monday, April 10, weather permitting.

During construction, Knox Lane will be reduced to one 10.5-foot lane each direction throughout the project duration. Project work will begin on the west end of the project and head east.

Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via cones and signage. Pedestrian channelizer fencing will be used along the north edge of Knox Lane during construction work on the sidewalk.

Pavers Inc., of Salina, is the primary contractor on this $223,900 project.
