    3 dead, 2 injured after shooting in downtown Lawrence

    Lawrence Police are investigating a downtown shooting that left three people dead and wounded two others.

    The Lawrence Journal-World reports the shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. Sunday in a popular restaurant and bar area downtown not far from police headquarters.

    Interim Police Chief Anthony Brixius says officers heard more the more than 20 gunshots, and responded to find several people wounded within a large crowd.

    It wasn’t immediately clear what led to the shooting. The victims were identified as 22-year-old Leah Elizabeth Brown of Shawnee, 20-year-old Colwin Lynn Henderson and 24-year-old Dupree Dean. Henderson and Dean are from Topeka.
