A fatal accident was reported in Clay County  Wednesday evening. Mary Rowland, 57, of Longford died in the two vehicle crash on K-82 westbound at K-15, one mile south of Clay Center.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado driven by Zachary Howard, 28, of Clay Center was westbound on K-82 and failed to stop at a stop sign, causing his vehicle to strike a Ford Taurus driven by Rowland which was southbound on K-15. Howard was taken to the Clay County Hospital.
The accident was reported at 7:50 p.m.
Also Wednesday,  Wesley Roddy, 26, of Council Grove was injured in a one vehicle accident on K-177 in Riley County, about nine miles south of Manhattan. Roddy’s Dodge Ram truck was southbound on the highway when for an unknown reason he crossed the center line and entered the east ditch, then over-corrected and entered the west ditch, impacting the embankment. The accident occurred just before 6 p.m.  Roddy was taken to Via Christi in Manhattan.
