A pair of Kansas State’s biggest playmakers this season will forego their final year of college eligibility and enter the NFL Draft.
Cornerback D.J. Reed and Byron Pringle both announced their decisions in the last 24 hours.
Reed was named a Walter Camp All-American as a kick returner after scoring a pair of touchdowns on returns this season. He led the Big 12 in punt return yardage and kick return yardage.
The former JUCO product was also 5th on K-State’s defense in tackles and grabbed a pair of interceptions.
In his announcement Sunday night, Reed, who was not a high-profile recruit, thanked K-State for the opportunity to play in Manhattan.
“I want to thank everyone that has helped me through this process,” he said. “I want to thank my coaches from Fresno State, Cerritos Community College, and Kansas State. And to all my fans, thank you for supporting me.”
Pringle’s declaration came Monday afternoon in the form of a letter to Wildcat fans. He thanked coach Bill Snyder for their patience and faith in him, and said “I will forever call myself a Wildcat and carry it with respect, admiration, and pride.”
The 24-year-old wideout led K-State in yards (724), yards per catch (24.1) and touchdowns (6) this season.
