Two Redbud Estates mobile homes caught fire Friday afternoon. Fire officials say the cause is still under investigation.
The Manhattan Fire Department received a call for a shed fire at the mobile home park at 3:40 p.m., but it spread from the shed to two units by the time they arrived on the scene. A dog died in one of the homes, there were no other injuries reported.
It took 30 minutes for the 24 firefighters on scene to extinguish the second alarm fire.
Losses for one of the properties, a single wide 2000 Homesmart mobile home, amounted to $35,000 — $15,000 for the home and $20,000 for personal property. Losses for the other, a double wide 2005 Liberty mobile home, amounted to $50,000 — $30,000 for the home and $20,000 for personal property.
