Hurricane Lane Alters Cats’ Opening-Weekend Schedule

    From K-State Athletics

With Hurricane Lane expected to hit the Hawaiian Islands by the end of the week, K-State volleyball is now tentatively scheduled to play Hawaii on Sunday as part of the season-opening Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Cats will meet the Rainbow Wahine on Sunday at 2 p.m. HT (7 p.m. Central). The match will stream free at BigWest.TV and Rob Voelker will have the call on News Radio KMAN (93.3 FM, 1350 AM). Free, live audio can also be found at K-StateSports.com/watch.

K-State, who arrived on Oahu Tuesday, was originally scheduled to open its season Friday vs. UCLA and face Gonzaga on Sunday, but the threat of Hurricane Lane changed the Bruins’ and Bulldogs’ travel plans.

As of Thursday, K-State’s schedule should be considered tentative and subject to change dependent upon the impact of Hurricane Lane.

Following the Wildcats’ weekend in Honolulu, K-State will head to St. Louis for the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic hosted by Saint Louis. The Cats will square off with Marquette, Saint Louis and Western Kentucky beginning Friday, August 31.
