Redshirt senior Kylee Zumach was named the season’s first Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after propelling K-State to back-to-back sweeps at Hawaii and leading the conference in kills per set, the conference office announced Monday.

Zumach, who earns her sixth career weekly honor, paced the Wildcats with 19 and 18 kills, respectively, in the pair of three-set wins over the Rainbow Wahine in Honolulu over the weekend. Her 6.17 kills per set were tops in the Big 12 over the season’s opening weekend and she did so while hitting at a .330 clip.

Sunday, Zumach also turned in a team-best 12 digs for the sixth double-double of her career and first this season.

The Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic was originally scheduled to begin last Friday and also feature UCLA and Gonzaga, but the threat of Hurricane Lane hitting the Hawaiian Islands altered the tournament’s schedule. K-State swept Hawaii for the first two times in the series history.

The Buffalo, Minnesota, was named Rookie of the Week five times in 2014 on her way to being named Big 12 Freshman of the Year and a freshman all-American.

K-State will hit the road again for the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic in St. Louis, where the Cats will meet Marquette, Western Kentucky and host Saint Louis beginning Friday, August 31.
