Armed man arrested in Manhattan on multiple charges

A man is in custody after the Riley County Police Department sent a text alert to residents Tuesday morning around 8 a.m. warning people to stay away from the 800 block of Colorado Street.
Riley County Police Department Public Information Officer Hali Rowland told KMAN officers were responding to a call that there was a man with a gun in the area. The man was taken into custody about 30 minutes later and no injuries were reported.
The suspect was 32-year-old Henry Marquez Jones of Manhattan. Jones was arrested yesterday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon by a felon, and disorderly conduct. He was confined to the Riley County Jail on a 20 thousand dollar bond. Jones had previously been arrested for robbery, battery and drug charges.
The incident was just a few blocks from Manhattan High School East Campus, which secured its facilities while the situation was still ongoing. After the suspect was taken into custody, RCPD sent out a new alert rescinding their advisory to stay away from the area.
No further details on the situation were made available at this time.
